Introducing Microneedling Treatment at Peters Radiant Clinic

Over time, our skin can lose its elasticity and this is down to the reduced production of fibroblast cells and collagen's building blocks.

When this happens we get sagging skin and wrinkles, making the skin look dull. While we can't stop the aging process, there is a way to slow it down by using microneedling, also referred to as collagen induction therapy.

Microneedling treatment in Malaysia is a chemical free and safe way to boost collagen production in the skin.

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a treatment that can be used for a number of skin ailments, such as wrinkles, acne scars, stretch marks, and pigmentation.

The process utilizes very fine needles that create microscopic channels in the skin, which encourages the production of elastin and collagen.

This helps generate new skin cells, making the skin plumper with a more youthful appearance.

Any serums or creams that are applied after these treatments tend to be much more effective due to the pores being more open, allowing these products to be absorbed deeper into the skin.

The Process of Microneedling in Malaysia

Microneedling is a very simple process. At Peters Radiant, we use a handheld device, called a derma roller that has shallow, tiny needles embedded in it.

The roller is moved over the area being treated, allowing these needles to puncture the outer layer of the skin.

The controlled damage is what stimulates the body to produce new elastin and collagen cells, which helps to rejuvenate the skin, filling in those fine lines on the skin.

The result is an overall improvement to the tightness and texture of the skin, with the removal of scars, wrinkles, and stretch marks.

Microneedling is not restricted to the facial area. The treatment can also be done on the abdomen, neck, legs, arms, and other areas. These sessions tend to take around 30 minutes.

After treatment, your skin appears a bit red, similar to having a light sunburn. The skin returns to normal within a couple of days.

The treatment is not a quick fix, with results occurring over a few weeks or months. However, results are long-term, improving the overall health of the skin that is treated.

Your skin will have a plumper and more radiant look though just after treatments, which will last for a couple of weeks.

Benefits of Microneedling

Microneedling therapy is beneficial in a number of ways. It works to repair the skin, boost collagen and elastin reduction, and reduce and eliminate scarring and wrinkles. It can also stimulate hair follicles that have become dormant.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Does microneedling hurt?

A. The needles used are very fine and short and feel like a pinprick. However, a topical cream is used to help lessen the skin's sensitivity so that no pain is felt during the treatment.

Q. How much downtime is needed after treatment?

A. Microneedling has very little downtime. The skin will have the sensation of a mild sunburn for around 24 hours after the treatment is done. You may also experience some flaking after a day or so due to the skin sloughing off dead cells, which is normal.

Q. Are there any side effects?

A. Side effects will vary from one person to the next, but they usually include redness, mild irritation, and flaking of the areas that have been treated. These will all subside between 24 to 72 hours. It's important that you do not exfoliate the skin because it can further irritate the treated areas.

Q. How many treatments do you need?

 A. This will depend on the results that you wish to achieve and which part of the body the treatments are used on. For example, treating stretch marks and wrinkles may need between 4 to 8 sessions, depending on the severity of the skin issue. Treatments are spaced apart between 4 to 6 weeks to allow the skin to heal properly.
